Suburb: St Kilda East, Melbourne | Services: Exterior House Painting
This is a large timber house in East St Kilda.
We had painted the inside when our client purchased the property and we were then asked to paint the exterior.
The exterior was in very poor condition with paint bubbling and peeling and much of it required stripping. Given the age of the home we had to assume lead paint was present.
We painted the house in 2 stages with the oiled section at rear before winter and the rest of the house in summer.
The oiled section at the rear of the house was very weathered requiring us to treat with timber cleaner prior to oiling in Intergrain Nature’s Oil in Jarrah.
We stripped paint on the painted areas where required and oil undercoated most surfaces to provide a stable surface prior to painting. Our client also replaced some weatherboards.
We stripped timber using our grinder attached to our Festool dust extractor to minimise dust. We followed our lead paint procedures for this. We then electric sanded all timber using our Festool sanders and dust extractors.
The preparation and painting has given this house a new lease on life and our clients are very happy with the result.
