Our client contacted us almost crying with her story of dealing with some other painters. Quite by chance her husband then called and sent through photos of mess that had been left and his concern of lead paint dust etc.

Another painting company had commenced stripping paint from weatherboards using heat guns. They finished one side wall and started stripping the front when they had an epiphany that they were stripping lead paint and panic ensued. The painters were concerned about their health given they hadn’t followed any lead paint processes. They had left paint chips and general paint mess all over the ground, loose rubbish in the bin etc and completely freaked out our clients and themselves.  

We were then contracted to oil undercoat the stripped wall before winter and we then returned later in the year to strip the front area, oil undercoat bare timber and completely paint the front and side following our lead paint protocols. Our client was insistent on stripping all paint and she was extremely concerned about any mess. We wanted them to have a great experience after what they had been through and for the project to go to plan, which it did.

We used our grinder attached to our Festool dust extractor (specified for lead paint) to strip the weatherboards plus a heat gun on low heat for edges etc. We used a mobile scaffold to access the higher area.

Communication with our clients was key to the success of the project. We were able to explain what we were doing and the lead paint protocols we were following. This enabled them to feel relaxed which helped immensely.

Our clients were thrilled with the process, our painters and the final finish. The house is now looking fantastic and our clients don’t have to concern themselves with old lead paint.
